Pull the lever at 17 to open and close pit A.

18 - B - 19

18 is safe to step on.
Throw any item north from 18 and it will trigger the pressure plate on 19 opening pit B.
As soon as there is no weight on 19, pit B opens.

C - 20 - D

The button at 20 opens pit C and closes pit D and vice versa.

22 - E

Pressure plate 22 opens and closes pit E.

23There is a shelf in the wall.
The shelf contains Rations and a Silver Key.

Upper Dwarven Ruins

Fitted stone walls.
There are many gargoyle decorations on the walls.

Giant spiders inhabit this level.
Spiders raspawn at a high rate so clear an area before moving on to another or you may become surrounded.
Whenever a web respawns, spiders have also respawned on the other side of the webs.

NEVER REST WHEN POISONED

or the poisoned character will die.
Spiders patrol in this area.
IWIllusionary Wall.
1These stairs lead up to Floor 3, Area 59.
2Push the button on the west wall to open the door to the south.
A hidden passage will also open to the east.
3There are 3 Iron Rations here.
4These stairs lead up to Floor 3, Area 52.
5There is an injured dwarf named Taghor here.
He will ask to join your party, and makes an excellent companion.
He is armed with a an axe, chain mail, and a dwarven helmet.

Kruen Hall

Pull the chain on the south wall to open the secret passage at 15.

Four Door Room

18The buttons on the walls open the doors to Area 19.

19The first time you enter this magic room, it contains:
1 spider, a Potion of Healing, and a dwarven key.

Enter the room from one direction, get the items, and exit closing the door behind you.
Go to the next door and repeat the process.

You can do this once for each door and get three more potions.

20Use a dwarven key in the gargoyle keyhole to open this door.
21On the north wall is a gargoyle lever.
Pull it to open and close passage 22.
22This passage can be opened from Area 21.
23This jeweled lever opens and closes the west door.
24The portal on the north wall requires the Stone Medallion as a key.
Using the key will teleport the party to Floor 7, Area 61.
25There is a message on the wall that reads: "There is evil which lies beyond this room".
26There are 2 Cure Poison Potions on shelves on each of these spots, for a total of 4 potions.

The pit drops you to floor 5 area 2.

34On the west wall, pull the gargoyle's arm and spiders appear at Areas 92 and 93.
35These stairs go down to Floor 5, Area 1.

Spider Den

Spiders rule this area.
Try not to use any Cure Poison Potions while in the Spider Den.

37This pressure plate closes the door, trapping you in the Spider Den.
38This is the only way out of the Spider Den.
Place the dwarven key in the keyhole on the south wall to open the west door.

40There is a rock here.
41A spider appears here after pulling the lever at Area 34.
42The map wraps around from bottom (42A) to top (42B).
Both spaces are webbed.
43These wall are opened while you walk through the halls.

Dwarf Camp

When you first enter the room you meet Armun, the leader of the dwarven camp.

If you agree to help the dwarves, they will give you six Rations and a Stone Medallion Portal Key.

Dorhum, a dwarven fighter, will also ask to join. He wants to help find prince Keirgar.
Dwarves stand here.
If you attack any of the dwarves, they all become hostile.
A dwarven cleric here will heal wounded characters or resurrect any dead NPCs.
This is an opportunity to bring any of the bones you found back to life.
1The east steps lead up to Floor 4, Area 35.
2If you fall down Pit D on floor 4, you land here.
3There is a cleric scroll of Prayer here.
4There is scale mail and a dwarven key here.
5The secret button on the south wall opens the passage to the south.
6There is no way to open the door on this side.
It must be opened from the north side.

Do Not waste a dwarven key to open the door, a thief can pick these locks or you can bypass these doors by using teleporter 24.

12There is a gargoyle lever with his arm in the up position. Pull it down to resets drain holes which closes most of the pits on this level.

As you move into the maze to the south, pits will open behind your characters.

After you kill the Mantis Warriors and take the items from the shelves, put Kenku Eggs on the shelves.
Place one egg on each shelf in order 21A then 21B and when the last egg is placed on shelf 21C, 4 more Mantis Warriors will spawn.
The Mantis Warriors will drop rings when killed. The number or rings dropped is (10 - the number of eggs that still exist), up to 4. So if 10 eggs exist you may not get any rings - eat 4 eggs and you should get all 4 rings:
1 Ring of Sustenance,
2 +2 Ring of Protection and
1 Ring of Feather Fall.
This is the Special Quest for this level.
Teleporter Hall
This hall is filled with teleporters that bounce your party randomly around this corridor.

Xanthar's Outer Sanctum, Lower Reaches

The walls of this level consist of fitted stone, covered by moss and slime.
Mind Flayers and Xorn inhabit this level.

Mind Flayers patrol in this area.
Xorn patrol in this area.
1This area is accessed only by falling through a pit at Floor 10, Area 28.
2On the west wall is a portal which requires the Stone Holy Symbol as a key.
Place the key on the blank brick to activate the portal and teleport your party to Floor 7, Area 59.
Celestial Stars of Navigation

This device aligns three concentric squares to allow you to explore the different sections of this level.

On each ring there is a passage, a button, a star symbol and a message.
On the two inner rings the passage is always open and the passage on third ring only opens when it is aligned with the other two.
To align the rings, press the buttons to rotate the opening 90 degrees clockwise moving the passage to where the button was.

The message on each ring reads:
3"Your fate lies in the stars."

4"Leave no stone unturned."

5"Alignment must be true."

Drop another rock here and wait a while. It will grow moss.
7There is +3 banded armor and a +4 long sword named "Slasher" here.

The levers have 2 settings that give you something:

Setting all levers to the up position should give you a Wand of Frost at Area 10A.
Some walkthroughs say you need to put an item on the shelf before flipping the switches to get the wand.
I have tried every item that will fit on the shelf but I never got the wand.
Whether that is just the version of the game I have, or if there is a specific method to get the wand, I have no idea.

Place a scroll on the shelf at 10A then set the levers to:

This is the Special Quest for this level and the scroll will become a scroll that will give you a hint about how to defeat Xanathar.

Xanthar's Inner Sanctum

The walls of this level consist of opulent decor. On several walls there are holes that reek of smoke.
Stone Golems and Xanathar himself inhabit this level.

It is highly reccomended that you have several Invisibility 10' ready on this floor.

Stone Golems patrol in this area.
¡There is an eye on a pedestal here.
1On the west wall is a portal which requires the Stone Orb as a key.
Place the key on the blank brick to activate the portal and teleport your party to Floor 11, Area 35.
2Push the wall ornamentation and a hidden passage opens to the west.
3AOn the west wall is a sign which reads: "Turn back, no trespassing."
3BOn the west wall is a sign which reads: "You were warned."
4Stepping on this pressure plate closes the door to the east.
One of the four Stone Golems in this area carries a Skull Key.
5A button on the east wall opens the passage to the north.
6This door can only be opened from the other side.
Teleport Rooms
7, 8, 9 - A, B, C


In each room there are 3 buttons on the east wall.
When the #A buttons are pressed your party is teleported to #B.
When the #B buttons are pressed your party is teleported into the wall #C.
From inside wall 7C and 8C you can step forward into the next room or back into the previous one.
From inside wall 9C you can see into the next room, but must step back into the previous one.

If you take the items from either pedestal 11A or 11B, 2 other items will be taken from the party and placed on pedestal 11A.
Any small items that can fit on a shelf will be taken, however, if you have the inventory screen up on a character, that character's items will not be taken.
It is recommended that if you want to take the items from here to first drop your small items from your inventory.
12Insert a Skull Key in the keyhole to open the door.

This door will close if you step next to 11A forcing you to use another Skull Key to reopen the door.
Be sure to get everything out of room 13-14 before leaving.
¡ 13 ¡To the east and west of 13 there are pedestals with large eyes on them.
If your characters are not invisible, stepping between them will release the 3 Stone Golem guards from the south
14A, BThere is a Potion of Vitality and a Potion of Invisibility on shelves on each of these spots.
4 potions total.
15 B¡¡¡A

Along the north wall of this room are three pedestals.
To the south of each pedestal are three signs that read: "Stone for substance," "Potion for strength," and "Sphere for animation."
Put a rock, potion, and orb on each of the appropriate pedestals, and push the button on at 15A to create a Stone Golem at 15B.

All 3 items will be consumed so it is not a good idea unless you want more combats and XP.
16This door can only be opened from the east.
17A, BStepping on 17A closes the door to the east.
Opening the door reveals a button on the east wall.
Pushing this button creates a Wand of Fireballs on a shelf at 17B.
18AWritten on the west wall is "Room of the spheres."
18B, CThe pedestal at 18C has a large eye on it.
Place an orb of power on each of the two 18B pedestals and the eye on 18C will disappear.
Place an orb of power on the 18C pedestal and all 3 pedestals will disappear allowing access to room 19.
The three orbs reappear at 21.
19This room can only be entered from the south.
The doors to the east and west can only be opened in this room.
20This door can only be opened from the west.
21There are three Orbs of Power here.
The three orbs used for room 18 will be transported here also.

There is a little graphical glitch here. If you stand at the north east or south east corner of this room facing west, the orbs appear to float off the pedestal.

22A secret button on the south wall opens the door to the south.
23The button on the south wall opens the southern door.
24A, BThere is a keyhole on the south wall of 24A and the north wall of 24B.
Insert a Skull Key into either to open the door on that side.
There is a Wand of Magic Missiles between the two doors.
Only open one of the doors.
25These four rotating shelves will dispense a total of four Iron Rations.
26Step on any of these pressure plates to close all of the doors to this room.
27A secret button on the west wall opens the alcove to the north.
28There are two Potions of Invisibility here.
29Step on either pressure plate to close the door.
30A, B, CThere are three button on the east walls of this room.

Push 30A to create a shelf with a Potion of Speed in the north wall.

Pushing 30B triggers two Fireballs that fly east from holes west of Areas 30A and 30C.
The Fireballs fly one square and then turn towards 30B.
Step back to 29 to avoid them.

Push 30C to create a shelf with an Orb of Power in the south wall.
31You are about to fight Xanathar.
Rest your party, ready your spells and weapons then save the game.
Xanathar

32Xanathar appear infront of you when you step into the door.
He gives you two options, Surrender or Fight.
If you choose Surrender, all items in your hands are dropped and he attacks.
If you choose Fight, he attacks.
His first attack is a spell that will most likely kill one of your characters if you don't dodge it, quickly fall back and to the side.
The spell bounces off the door at 31 and goes back into room 32 so be careful when running past Xanathar.
33AOn the north wall is a hole that reeks faintly of smoke.
33BThere are light beam projectors on the east and west walls.
Breaking the hidden beam sets off a Fireball from 33A.
The trap can be avoided if all your characters are invisible.
¡34¡Stepping on 34 rotates you to be facing south.
There is a large eye on a pedestal on ether side of 34.
35If your characters are not invisible, stepping here will cause spikes to come out of the floor and ceiling hitting the party.
Enter this trap with all characters invisible and you can get copies of portals keys from the south shelf: a Stone Orb, Stone Holy Symbol, Stone Ring, Stone Necklace, Stone Medallion, Stone Dagger, and a Stone Scepter.
36A, BRun to 34A and wait for Xanathar to get to the west of you.
Use the Wand of Silvias to push him 1 space west then run to 36B.
Use the Wand again to push him south into the spikes.
